You will always be treated by a medically licensed registered nurse or nurse practitioner.
IV INFUSIONS
-
IV vitamin therapy, also known as intravenous vitamin therapy, is a treatment where important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are delivered directly into the vein. This allows the nutrients to quickly enter the bloodstream and reach the cells in the body. This method is helpful because it bypasses the digestive system, allowing for higher levels of nutrients to be delivered and potentially benefiting the person's overall health.
-
When taken orally, these same types of vitamins may not be fully absorbed by the digestive system. Many of these vitamins may also upset the digestive tract and can only be taken in small doses. IV bypasses the GI system allowing for higher concentrations of the vitamins to be available to the body.
-
Some considerations that may warrant the need for IV vitamin therapy include the following:
Individuals suffering or recovering from illnesses; IV vitamins may help boost the immune system and speed up recovery.
Individuals who feel run down and have chronic low energy.
such as depression and anxiety.
Athletes before and after major sporting activities.
-
You ARE NOT a candidate for this treatment if you are:
Younger than 18 years old
Have kidney failure and are on dialysis
Have been diagnosed with heart failure
Have liver failure and are currently on treatment
Have allergies to any of the components of the IV infusions
Expectant mothers or are breastfeeding
Actively inebriated and unable to give consent
Diagnosed with cancer and are on active treatment. Please consult with your physician before seeking IV infusion therapy.
-
We offer a variety of IV infusions and shots, and can also tailor them according to your symptoms. Please check our IV menu or give us a call and consult with our qualified healthcare professional who can assess your individual needs and determine whether it is appropriate for you.
-
On average, an infusion takes around 30-60 minutes depending how well it is tolerated and the type of infusion being administered.
-
After performing an assessment, our NP or RN will recommend an IV therapy that will best achieve your health goals. Additionally discussed are the risks and benefits of its use, and components of the vitamin therapy. During the session, you will be comfortably seated or lying down. A tourniquet will be applied to your upper arm or forearm so that the veins become visible and distended. Once an appropriate vein is identified, it is cleaned thoroughly with an alcohol wipe. The vein is punctured with a needle and a plastic cannula will be inserted into the vein, allowing for an IV line. Your healthcare professional will take all measures to make sure this process is maintained with aseptic technique (washing hands, applying gloves, and cleaning the skin and surfaces with the appropriate solution). The vitamin bag is prepared aseptically, attached to the IV tubing and connected to your arm. Initially, we will infuse the solution slowly to make sure you are comfortably tolerating the IV, and incrementally increase the rate of the IV. Generally, the IV vitamin bags are set to flow for about 30 – 60 minutes.
-
Frequency of IV therapy will be determined by your healthcare provider depending on the severity of your symptoms and wellness goals.
-
IV therapy is generally considered safe, however there are potential risks and complications that can occur. These include:
Infection: There is a small risk of infection at the site where the IV is inserted. Proper sterile techniques and care can help minimize this risk.
Vein irritation or inflammation: The insertion of the IV needle or cannula can cause irritation or inflammation of the vein. This can result in pain, redness, swelling, or discomfort at the site.
Allergic reactions: Some individuals may have allergic reactions to the substances or additives in the IV solution. These reactions can range from mild to severe, including symptoms like rash, itching, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis.
Phlebitis: Phlebitis refers to the inflammation of the vein due to irritation or infection. It can cause pain, redness, swelling, and tenderness along the vein.
It's important to note that these risks are generally uncommon and can be minimized with a thorough past medical history, proper technique, sterile practices, and close monitoring.
